To Paddick or not to Paddick?

I'm sitting at my desk desperately trying to decide where my second preference vote should go. The easy choice would be to give it to Brian Paddick who is the only other candidate with even a slim chance of beating Boris Johnson. But somehow I'm not convinced.

I have watched Paddick at quite a few of the hustings in this election and he has only managed to put me off. I have voted Lib Dem in the past so Paddick should be a no-brainer for me, but there is something about him that doesn't appeal.

The only other candidates I have seen in action are Lindsey German and Sian Berry who have both impressed me at different times. I feel like I should give my second preference to one of them, but the thought still persists that I would be wasting my vote.

So if you're one of the hundreds of people who my webstats show regularly read this blog and never comment, then I would really appreciate it if you could come forward now and convince me which way to go. As far as second preferences go I am a genuine floating voter. So what do you say?

I'd have thought 1: Green and 2: Ken would have been best for you, as a 2nd pref vote for anyone other than Boris or Ken technically won't even get counted, so it won't actually mean anything to the greens.

I believe if you vote Ken or Boris as number one, then its essentially a single vote no matter what you put as number 2. I suppose people do need to make sure they put Ken as first choice enough times to make sure he actually does get through into the 'elimination round' - so perhaps ken 1 and green 2 just so you know in your heart you tried to encourage the greens in some small way? :)

Thanks Alex, you make a good case. Now are there any Lindsey or Paddick supporters out there who can persuade me?

Ken first, anyone but Boris second. Personally I think Sian comes across well and a large amount of votes for the Greens would send a strong message to all of the parties. So for me it will be Ken 1 Sian 2.

Ken 1, Sian 2 here. She's got a lot more oomph than Brian, unfortunately, and that deserves respect.

Thanks everyone. I went Ken 1 Sian 2 in the end. Now let the long wait begin...

I don't understand! Ken 1 Sian 2 doesn't send any sort of message. Your vote for Sian will literally not be counted!

I live in the Midlands so it's all academic as far as I'm concerned.
We've got our own dickheads to worry about.
The biggest difference is that the meejah is based in London and is pompous enough to think the rest of the country is interested in your local tomfoolery.
You've got the mayor you deserve.
