David Davis for Freedom and Victory!

David Davis is not just 'for' freedom, but 'is' freedom and 'of' freedom. When Davis gets out of bed he does so free from the burden of those freedom haters, the free press.

He is the man who is free, and we are all just resentful for being free from the kind of freedom-loving values that only he (Davis) can set free. Free yourself!

Only four uses of the word "Conservative" on his site using his own search engine.

I still don't quite understand what he's doing. Whatever he's doing he's doing it because of something I agree with. But that doesn't mean I have the faintest understanding of why he's doing it.

Still, it'll be another by election to stay up for!

Yes it is certainly interesting. Mostly self-interested and ego-fuelled and completely pompous, but interesting nonetheless.

Am I free to say that I think he's a complete prick who I wouldn't piss on if he was on fire? Just asking, because the way some people are going on you would think he was the next messiah.

He's not the next messiah, but I am sure he does believe in the issue he has hijacked. Not half as much though, as the main issue that is the lodestar of his life....HIMSELF!

Outflanked once again by David Cameron, in his last interview he had the slightly dazed expression of someone who has made a reckless move and is now seeing the wheels come off.

In line with our new Mayor's classical education, may I finish with some quotations?

O praeclarum custodem ovium lupum.

(A excellent protector of sheep - the wolf!)

Trahimur omnes laudis studio.

(We are all led by our eagerness for praise.)

and his real motivating force...

Quam se ipse amans - sine rivali.

(He, loving himself so much - without a rival! Cicero).

I think it's probably fair to say that anything any politician does is ego driven. We should probably just be grateful that his ego is driving him to do the right thing.

Bishop Hill, if he really wanted to do the right thing, why did he not stand by his party and wait until he was in the position to make a difference? Surely the by election will just be a pointless formality and he could have adversely affected the Conservative lead in the polls? He didn't, but he could have.
