I loved the article Boris wrote on Obama and agreed with every single word. If these cynical smart alecs want to make something nasty of it and twist what he said, let them, who cares? What if Boris did support Hillary Clinton last year? He has been on a learning curve and he has changed his mind, and he is entitled to change his mind if he wants to. Maybe he understands things now that he didn't understand then.

And maybe he will change it again. And maybe you will agree with him then as well.

I see someone let Barnbrook go on the computers again.

I do hope not, it's hell trying to get the dribble out of the keyboard.

I wonder what Barnbrook's reaction to the revelations about Mr. Haider's secret gay relationship would be? Disappointment that he never got asked to film it, presumably.

Just read the Melanie Phillips' column you linked to:

"...or the serial lies Camp Obama has told and the way it has tried to suppress information in order to conceal his radical connections."

You know I was genuinely interested in what she was referring to here. But apparently providing a justification for statements like this is not necessary.

It seems that like the Mayor who 'reveres' her, Melanie doesn't need justifications.

Tom, Boris did support George Bush, but so did a lot of people then, including many people in the Labour Party. One of them kissed ass to George so badly it was a national disgrace. It is easy to be wise after the event, and Boris although still supporting the removal of Saddam Hussein, believes the price was way too high.

I agreed with absolutely every word of Boris's last article and though it was fantastic. I believe he has been on a huge learning curve since he became Mayor and he says he understands loads of things he never understood before. People have a right to change their minds about things, and it is the mark of a big person that they admit they have changed their minds and they were wrong in the past. If you lot wish to believe he is not sincere, fine, but I do believe it.

Life teaches us all things, and to have our opinions set in stone would be perfectly ridiculous.

Helen, events change and when you are Mayor, you have to temper your actions according to how events have changed. How could anyone have forseen some of the things that have happened lately, and it would ridiculous if he just stuck to the same decisions he made before without taking that into account.

Adam, you know I don't agree with everything Boris does. i strongly disagreed with his Hillary article and said so, and I disliked his previous two articles and strongly said so on his website. I love this last article and think it is fantastic.

"including many people in the Labour Party."

Including many *idiots* in the Labour Party. Not Ken Livingstone, however. Funny that. Where Ken leads, Boris follows, as usual.

Helen:

*boggling of mind*

I'd have *supported* him on opposing the Three Sisters, since they're *horrible*. I don't particularly oppose building something there or tall buildings in general, and the Doon Street development nearby I quite like, but those? Ugh.

Boris let us down, so our hopes rest with Hazel Blears, say campaigners. There's a turn up. He's probably going to cop more heat over this than over the bendies..

Boris was a Social Democrat in his younger days. Well, he was tied in with a political faction called Limehouse at Oxford which sort of amounts to the same thing.

The point is that Boris hasn't changed all that much politically. He was and is a part of that political class that believes in free markets and social liberalism. Thatcherism with a cuddly face, I suppose. A bit like Blair, Brown and Cameron.

Gordon Brown has a cuddly face?

Narf said...

What would a cuddly face look like? The idea disturbs me.
